Application of RFID in intelligent medical treatment
A team of researchers at Stanford University
announced a micro RFID tag that can be implanted into cells, such as skin or
cancer cells. Tags are about one-fifth the thickness of human hair. It is used
in conjunction with a dedicated RFID tag reader to interpret data and monitor
cell activity in real time.
In the future, micro RFID tags can also be
interconnected with sensors to facilitate the development of advanced
biomedical skills such as antibody detection and cancer cell damage.
At Cornell University in the United States,
researchers have planned UHF RFID tags, which can not only monitor vital signs
such as heart rate, breathing, and blood pressure, but also do not touch
patients. The label can be placed in a medical wristband or sewn into clothing.
RFID readers communicate wirelessly with tags
to monitor multiple patients simultaneously. Medical staff can accurately
understand the characteristics of each patient's life system without touching
the patient, saving time and energy.
