What is the difference between NFC and RFID?
NFC technology originated from RFID, but there are certain differences compared with RFID,

1.Working frequency
NFC operates at 13.56 MHz, while RFID
operates at low frequencies, high frequencies (13.56 MHz) and ultra high
frequencies.
2.Working distance
The working distance of NFC is
theoretically 0~20cm, but in the realization of the product, due to the special
power suppression technology, the working distance is only 0~10cm, which
ensures the safety of the business. Since RFID has different frequencies, its
working distance ranges from a few centimeters to tens of meters.
3. Working mode
NFC supports both read and write modes and
card mode. In RFID, the card reader and the contactless card are two separate
entities and cannot be switched.
4. Peer-to-peer communication
NFC supports P2P mode, and RFID does not
support P2P mode.
5. Application areas
More applications for RFID are in
production, logistics, tracking and asset management, while NFC works in areas
such as access control, bus cards, and mobile payment.
6. Standard agreement
The underlying communication protocol of
NFC is compatible with the underlying communication standard of high frequency
RFID, that is, it is compatible with the ISO14443/ISO15693 standard. NFC
technology also defines relatively complete upper layer protocols such as LLCP,
NDEF and RTD. In summary, although NFC and RFID technologies are different, NFC
technology, especially the underlying communication technology, is fully
compatible with high-frequency RFID technology. Therefore, in the field of
application of high frequency RFID, NFC technology can also be used.
